When I first listened to this record I immediately thought about Rock n' Roll, not only because of the fast piano or the way the sax is played and how it takes part in the song, but also the way Dixon sings. And when I started the research about this Jamaican born singer and pianist, it turned out I wasn´t too wrong on my appreciation, as he considers himself and is seen by many of his fans as a bluesman, who also recorded some Ska, like this one you can listen to.

Dixon moved to New York when he was twelve with his family, and is there where he started to receive all the influences from the Black American music of the time. In the mid 50´s, he launched his career in London, wich continues nowadays as far as I know.

La primera vez que escuché esta canción, inmediatamente se me vino a la cabeza el Rock n' Roll, no sólo por el ritmo rápido del piano o la manera en que está tocado el saxo y cómo interviene en la canción, si no también la forma de cantar de Dixon. Cuando comencé a buscar información acerca de este vocalista y pianista jamaicano, resultó que no estaba muy equivocado, ya que él mismo se considera, y así lo ven muchos de sus seguidores, un bluesman que también grabó Ska, como en el tema que podemos escuchar aquí.

Dixon se trasladó de su Jamaica natal a Nueva York con su familia cuando tenía doce años, y allí es donde empieza a recibir directamente la influencia de la música negra americana de la época. A mediados de los 50, se muda a Londres donde comienza su carrera.
