Owen Gray, often named as Owen Grey, was born in Kingston in 1939. He started acting very young. In fact, he became professional at the age of 19 and was one of the fist artists to be produced by Chris Blackwell (Island Records), being his single "Patricia" the first ever released by this label. Gray attended the legendary Alpha Boys School, where many of the greatest Jamaican artists come from.

He is the first Jamaican singer to achieve recognition doing something other than Calypso music, very popular in the 50's, going through R&b, Ska, Rocksteady, Reggae, Roots... until today, as he is still performing both as a Reggae singer and Gospel. In 1962, after Blackwell realised how strong was the West Indian community in the UK, due to the success of his first singles, Gray emigrated to the British Isles in 1962. By 1964 he was touring Europe as a Soul and Ska singer.

"Two lovers" was released in 1970 on the Camel label, one of many Pama subsidiaries. Backing Owen's soulful voice are The Rudies (a.k.a. The Corporation, Des All Stars and The Opening), having as a result this excellent song that finishes with the organ taking over while the vocals go higher.

Se le considera el primer artista de la isla en ser reconocido en la música haciendo algo diferente al por entonces muy popular Calypso, pasando por el R&b, Ska, Rocksteady, Reggae, Roots... hasta nuestro días, ya que sigue actuando tanto como cantante de Reggae como de Gospel. En 1962, Blackwell se dio cuenta de la fuerza de la gran comunidad antillana en el Reino Unido, debido al éxito de sus primeros singles, y en 1962 Owen Gray emigró a las islas británicas. En 1964 comenzó a girar por Europa como un reconocido cantante de Soul y Ska.

"Two lovers" se editó en 1970 en el sello Camel, de Pama. Acompañando la voz soulera de Owen encontramos a The Rudies (que también grabaron como The Corporation, Des All Stars o The Opening), dando como resultado esta excelente canción que termina con el órgano como protagonista con una voz que va a más.

Gilberto Miguel Calderón, a.k.a. Joe Cuba, was born in New York's Harlem in 1931 from a Puerto Rican family. He formed a band, José Calderón Sextet, wich changed its name to Joe Cuba Sextet in 1954, becoming increasingly popular with the large Puerto Rican and Latin pupulation in New York. In 1965 they had their hit with "El Pito" (I'll never go back to Georgia), followed in 1966 by Bang! Bang! and "Sock it to me baby", pushing Boogaloo to the dancefloors.

Joe Cuba died in 2009 and his name is remembered as one of the greatest in Latin music, being part of the Latin Hall of Fame since 1999.

The flip side of this single is "Push, Push, Push", another good track to take into account.

Formó una banda, José Calderón Sextet, que pronto cambió su nombre en 1954 a Joe Cuba Sextet, y que fue ganando popularidad entre la muy numerosa comunidad latina de Nueva York. En 1965 tuvieron su primer éxito con "El Pito" (I'll never go back to Georgia), seguida por Bang! Bang! y "Sock it to me baby", ambas de 1966, y que empujaron al Boogaloo a las pistas de baile.

Joe Cuba murió en el año 2009 y su nombre es recordado como uno de los grandes de la música latina, formando parte del Latin Hall of Fame desde 1999.

La cara B de este single,"Push, push, push", es otra buena canción a tener en cuenta.
